In north Germany in 2007,
Petra Hansen ( short profile ) Banker Petra Hansen is CEO of narema GmbH and responsible for the business side of the company.
She has operated a biogas plant and been CEO of Naturkraft Herrenkoog GmbH & Co KG since 2005. Between 1992 and 2003, the trained banker, was employed as branch manager of the Raiffeisenbank Südtondern-Bredstedt/Land eG in Risum-Lindholm.
Petra Hansen is married with 2 children. - banker and operator of a biogas plant - and technical directors joined forces to form narema (»natural resource management«) and work on an idea:

Enhancing the productivity of biogas plants, while conserving resources at the same time.

The key problems in operating biogas facilities were the incentive:

• Profitability while commodity prices are rising (e.g. maize)
• Waste heat from the engines dissipates without any financial benefit
• Extra costs for biogas plant operators due to high levels of digestate (e.g. distribution, storage)

Underpinned by practical experience and in co-operation with scientific and business institutions, we turned the idea of increasing biogas plant revenue into reality in a unique concept and registered it for patent.

During the development and trial phase of the fermentation treatment project, we drew on the support of Prof. Boy, as well as engineers Wolf Eggert and Peter Kelm of the Institute for Process Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg.
